My name is Jake Arrieta, I am a professional baseball player with the Baltimore Orioles. I have been training at the highest level for a number of years, and have acquired an in depth understanding of what this type of training entails. I recently relocated to the Austin area and was in search of a top notch trainer that was willing and able to push me further than I have ever been pushed in the past. No matter what your training or fitness goals, you CAN NOT settle for average or second best. I didn't think that I would ever find someone that would give 100% the way that I do day in and day out. I was shocked when I met Zach and realized that I had found the perfect match for my training needs.

My training goals were simple:

Get 1% better than I was the day before, by leaving it all in the gym.

Build lean muscle and increase explosiveness.

Be conscious of my diet and hydrate.

Listen and learn everyday.

I was able to take my training to another level when Zach introduced me to kettle bell circuits and different types of workouts to challenge me mentally as well as physically.

Zach has the ability to motivate, push, and inspire any client. I would call him a close friend after only one off-season of training simply because he cares about YOU and is completely dedicated to your time together in the gym.

I am currently in season and already looking forward to our next off-season training. Zach is that good, and you should take advantage of him while he is available, because he is coming with me when I'm in the big leagues!

Good luck to everyone in your training, Zach will take extremely good care of you. You won't regret it!

I had the pleasure of working with Zach as my personal trainer twice a week for approximately 6 months this year, and would have continued to do so had my family not made the decision to move out of the area. I met and became friends with Zach at work and my schedule didn't allow me to train with him until after I gave birth to my baby girl and I cut back my hours..

This was my first experience with a personal trainer and I was blown away at my results. I always saw trainers at the gym using the boring weight machines, but not Zach. He has a unique way of making the workouts challenging and fun by using different equipment such as the Bosu, stability balls, kettlebells, bands and your own body weight. Yes, a workout fun! I was always amazed with his advance work on each of our sessions, as he was constantly altering the workout to maximize my results and to keep it interesting. Never the same workout twice.

In the short time I worked out with Zach I lost all my pregnancy weight and lowered my body fat percentage 4%. I am now back to 19% body fat where I was before the pregnancy. I feel strong and fit and didn't expect to feel that within 7 months of giving birth. Zach's workouts also helped me manage the stress I was experiencing as I was adjusting to life with 2 kids, work and moving.

I would highly recommend Zach as a personal trainer. His friendly and encouraging manner, his thorough knowledge, and professionalism make him an ideal trainer for anyone. He truly makes you want to be at the gym. He is the best you will find!

  • I decided to work with a personal trainer to help me lose the unwanted pounds I had gained after the birth of my third child. I met Zach through my local gym, we discussed my motivation and goals, Zach was very detailed in the planning of my program. Since I began working with Zach I have managed to lose over 30 pounds in just 11 weeks. Zach has listened to me every step of the way, mixed the program to keep me engaged, encouraged me, driven me but most of all he has partnered with me to achieve what has now become our goal. Zach is a very committed personal trainer and he will give you 100% every step of the way. The highest compliment I can pay him is that I have recommended him to friends and family, he has kept me motivated and focused but all the while keeping the fun element to the forefront. Thanks Zach!

  • Wow! I can’t believe it. I’m actually writing this. In a million years I would never have written this under any circumstances. It has been quite the journey so far. I never thought losing weight would be difficult emotionally, mentally & physically in that order. If someone had told me that weight loss will make me dig deep into my psyche, peel layers of pain off my heart and become healthy at the same time, I would have laughed in their face. But here I’m in the thick of it and life has never been better.

It took a while for me to decide to get serious. I would start working out but will fall by the wayside. I thought I knew which foods to eat. After all, I love fruits, vegetables, fish and all that good stuff. Problem was portion control, fat, sugar & salt. I’m not a candy eater but I can destroy some chocolate, ice cream and cake.

The wake up call for me was when I could not breathe one winter afternoon. Scared me so bad I went to see my doctor right away. When she told me I had high blood pressure, my heart started racing because it was clear right then I was in a terrible mess. It was exclaimed further when she took my hand, looked me straight in my eyes and said “Listen to me, you are going to die if you don’t do something now young lady. You are going to die. That is as clear as I can make it for you to understand.” Oh, she didn’t have to tell me twice. I went home, took my meds, went online and started researching my options. That was the day I started to change my diet. Granted I did not give up my chocolate, ice cream and cake. I still haven’t given them up. The difference now is I eat them in moderation only when I crave them.

  • My name is Phyllis. I am a 58 year old woman and about two and a half years ago I decided to take charge of my life. My weight was 175 pounds and I only stand 4 foot 10 inches tall. I started to exercise and eat only healthy natural foods. I have many health problems: Lupus, Chronic Kidney Failure caused by the Lupus, Fibromyalgia, High Blood Pressure, Arthritis, water around my heart caused by the Lupus and chronic pain.

A few years ago doctors didn't give me much hope for a good or long life. I am trying to keep from having to start dialysis which would leave me with a grim future. But I am here to prove them wrong.

I had started at Fitness 19 six weeks ago and love it. I am very fortunate to have met Ashley. I am now training with her twice a week. What a dramatic difference this has made in my over all health. Since starting with Ashley, I have more energy and can stand up from a chair without pain. I am also able to walk further without hurting and at a greater pace.

My sleep has improved and I am proud to say I have lost 6.5lbs and 6 inches in the six weeks since I have started at Fitness 19 with Ashley. My goal is to weigh 110 pounds and I have 12 pounds to go and get into a size 6.

We are only given one body and one life. I am making it the best one that I can. Stay healthy and exercise. Pay attention to what you're being told by your professional trainers. They have your best interest at heart. My personal thanks to Ashley.

    Have a Great Life,

    Phyllis

  • Kristen is no stranger to they gym. With previous personal training experience she knows how to motivate, design workout programs, and offer nutritional advice. However, she needed something more, something both physically and mentally stimulating to get motivated again about her own personal goals. I approached Kristen about possibly competing in a Figure Competition (a "softer" version of Body Building). She doubted her ability, but I convinced her that her current lean body and work ethic would carry her to success on the stage.

We started her meal plan and exercise regimen 16 weeks out from competition day. She went from eating three meals a day to eating five clean small meals (protein, "good" starchy carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables) a day. This meant measuring and eating at specific times of the day. Water was the only fluid going in her body. I allowed her just one cheat meal a week. Kristen also began an intense workout routine that required strength and cardiovascular training six days a week. As with any other weight loss, strength, or physically active programs, clean eating is the greatest indicator of how quickly and successfully one reaches his/her goals. Proper eating is also typically the hardest aspect to follow. This was no exception for Kristen. Many days I received text messages, emails, and phone calls about how she was forcing the food down and disgusted with strict meal plan. I reminded her daily of being on stage in a tiny suit and heels.

The fitter Kristen got, the harder she had to work. I changed up her meal plans and exercise routines weekly to keep her metabolism and muscles guessing. Mentally there were moments when she felt she could go no more. But she pressed on to finish what she had started!

Competition day at last! Down 15 pounds, and 8% body fat, with nails and hair done, suit on, and grumble in her stomach she stepped on stage. She had finished the grunt work. The countless hours in the gym and the restricted diet was behind her. Mexican food was only hours away! The only thing getting in her way of completing her mission was 20 other lean, gorgeous bodies. After what seemed like a life time (I am in the audience close to a heart attack) of poses and comparisons, the results are in. Kristen receives a third place trophy!!! Were we successful? Absolutely!! Finishing third out of 20 plus girls in her first competition is more than successful!! But the greatest measure of success is her consistency. Setting a goal, following it to the fullest mentally, emotionally, and physically, and then finishing it on stage with no regrets!

  • Ashley Williams, my trainer EXTRAORDINAIRE has been a part of my fitness journey for over a year now. She saw a woman walk into the gym,41 years old, 50-60 pounds overweight, and very out of shape and probably thought, “Wow, I’ll earn every penny off of this one.!”

So, in all honesty, your fitness journey starts with taking the step to join a gym and get moving. Yes, you can exercise at home, walk outside, meet for Mom’s Day at the park. Which are all great activities, but these are leisure activities and they are done as you find time for them. Joining a gym gives you a sense of responsibility. First, you’re paying for it. Second, if you hire a trainer, they depend on you being there. Third, you must carve the time out JUST for you. You don’t “find time” you “make time.“ No kids, no husbands, no Mom’s club. The time is YOURS and YOURS only. And don’t feel guilty about it. You work hard, some away from the home and managing a family, others just managing a family. You deserve some time for you, and well, now is that time.

Joining the gym. UGH! I can remember being so embarrassed to walk into the gym. So many fit people and I figured they were all looking at frumpy, fat ‘ol me. I just wanted to turn around and walk back out. But as the days in the gym progressed, I came to realize that these are all people trying to accomplish the same goals of being fit. We all have different fitness goals, but the one thing we all had in common - getting fit. So for anyone to be in the gym, there is respect for all regardless of your age, your shape, your fitness level. Most were just proud to see that you were in there doing something to better yourself. The judgment that we all think occurs because our fat rolls are showing…..just doesn’t happen. So just let that go. You are there for you and your fitness, nothing else matters.

Ashley,

Throughout most of my adult life, I watched my physique change from the body of a lean young adult to an increasingly overweight middle-aged man.  This change wasn’t sudden or surprising; but very gradual as the amount of physical activity decreased while my diet largely remained the same.

Although I spent a few years working to increase my physical activity by jogging I wasn’t seeing any noticeable changes with my weight.  I joined the gym a year ago, worked hard and felt good, but still didn’t lose any appreciable weight.  I began to think that I would remain at that weight and physical condition for the rest of my life and then slowly burned out from my exercise routine.

You’ll remember that I received a physical in October 2010 and the results were alarming compared to the previous year:  my weight, cholesterol and blood pressure all increased and I slipped into unhealthy ranges in each area.  It was time to either make a lifestyle adjustment or face a lifetime of deteriorating health.

Two days later, I sat down with you to explore my options to lose a considerable amount of weight and body fat.  At 200 pounds and 26% body fat, we set a goal to drop 20 pounds and 6% body fat in 10 weeks.  We would meet twice a week and I would exercise twice a week on my own.  In addition, you coached me on how to improve my diet without making any significant sacrifices.
